INTRODUCING BONE LACE
Glasgow (GB) 2017, 44 pp., 21×14.8 cm, booklet
Text: English

When ocupying herself with early bobbin lace (from the 16th and 17th century) Gilian Dye noticed that the way bobbin lace was made back then has been simpler and freer than nowadays.

This booklet is a beginner's guide to bone lace which is the 16th century name for bobbin lace. No previous knowledge of bobbin lace is assumed here. It can thus be interesting for textile researchers or those involved in re-enactment. But also today's lacemakers can dive into history, discover the differences to contemporary bobbin lace and try making simple old laces.
